The first leg of the Spanish Copa del Rey semi-final between Mallorca and Real Sociedad ended in a goalless draw of 0:0. The main culprit for this was the visiting team’s forward, Umar Sadiq, who missed a great opportunity to secure victory for his team in the 71st minute. Sociedad dominated the match against Mallorca, and it’s a wonder how the club from San Sebastian failed to secure a win in this game. The former Partizan Belgrade striker had the best chance in the match but embarrassed himself in the middle of the second half.
Sadiq could have made a name for himself and given Sociedad the lead, but he managed to miss an open goal from a few yards out. Mendez made a great run down the left side and passed the ball to Sadiq, who was unmarked in the six-yard box, but the Sociedad forward sent the ball over Mallorca’s empty net. The visiting fans and players were in total disbelief. No one in the stadium could understand how he managed to miss this opportunity.
