Džanan Musa named MVP for January in EuroLeague

1 min read

Real Madrid had a successful January with five wins and two losses, maintaining a five-game lead over Barcelona at the top of the Euroleague table. One of the key contributors to this success was Musa, who finished January as the second-best player in the Euroleague with an average of 19.9 points per game and an average performance index rating of 22.1. Musa particularly stood out by scoring 40 points in a victory against Efes in the longest game in Euroleague history, which ended after four overtimes.

Not only did he become just the tenth player to score 40 points in modern Euroleague history and the second in the last decade, but he also set a club record for the most points in a single game. He is the first basketball player born in Bosnia and Herzegovina to be named the Euroleague Player of the Month, and at 24 years, eight months, and 29 days, he is the youngest recipient of the award since Luka Dončić in October 2017.
