Serbian basketball player and point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Vasilije Micic, has revealed that the Thunder’s best player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, has not gotten over the loss to Serbia in the FIBA World Cup semifinals in Manila. In an interview with “B92,” Micic stated that his Canadian teammates, Gilgeous-Alexander and Lu Dort, remember Serbia and Alesk Avramovic well. Micic expressed that Shai is particularly affected by the loss and often jokes about it, even saying that he can’t wait to play against Serbia again and that he will play his best game ever.
Micic also mentioned that the silver medal win and victory in the semifinals have earned him respect from his Canadian teammates, making it easier for him when he arrived. It’s worth noting that one of the world’s best basketball players was completely unnoticed in the match against Serbia, thanks to the miraculous defense by Alekse Avramović, especially in the first half. Alekse’s persistence drove the Thunder’s star crazy in that match, and his steal followed by an easy layup is one of the plays that marked the magnificent success of our national team in Manila.
