Red Star Belgrade will earn 10,000,000 euros from the transfer and will keep 15 percent from the next sale. Jovan Mijatović (18) will stay in America and play in the MLS league for the next six months. In the U.S., the rules are not the same as in Europe, so a footballer can change to a third team during one season.
This means that depending on his performances, Jovan Mijatović could come to a team led by Pep Guardiola in the summer. He could stay in America or come to Europe, to one of the clubs that are members of the City Group. Jovan Mijatović is expected to make his debut for New York City on February 22, when the MLS season begins. In the light blue jersey, he could play against the Charlotte team.
Jovan Mijatović’s transfer to New York City is a record for an American club, as they have never before spent so much money on bringing in a footballer.
