Tennis player Halep appeals suspension for doping

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) stated that “there can be no indication of when the final decision will be made.” The International Tennis Integrity Agency suspended the two-time Grand Slam champion for four years in September due to two separate anti-doping rule violations. Halep tested positive for a banned substance that stimulates the production of red blood cells at the 2022 US Open, and was accused of irregularities in her biological passport last May, when the Romanian tennis player will be 35 years old. She has denied the irregularities and said she intends to clear her name.

Halep won the title at the French Open in 2018 and at Wimbledon a year later and is the most famous female tennis player to have failed a doping test since Maria Sharapova in 2016. The Romanian has won 24 singles titles and has earned more than $40 million in prize money from tournaments. She was ranked first in the WTA in 2017 and 2018.
