Novak ostaje na vrhu ATP liste

Novak Djokovic failed to defend his title in Melbourne and lost a significant number of points, but still managed to retain the top spot in the ATP rankings. His lead has drastically decreased following the first Grand Slam of the season, with Djokovic beginning this week with a record 410th week at the top despite losing 1,200 points in Australia. His total points now stand at 9,855, with his rivals breathing down his neck. Spanish player Rafael Nadal has accumulated a total of 9,255 points and has significantly closed the gap on Djokovic. Additionally, Australian Open finalists Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner have also moved closer to Djokovic. Medvedev secured 1,210 points in Melbourne, placing him in third position with 8,765 points, while Sinner’s 1,820 points have brought him to a total of 8,310, placing him fourth on the ATP list. The upside to this situation for Djokovic is that he does not have many points to defend until the French Open. Due to the ban on entry to the US last season, Djokovic did not participate in the Masters events at Indian Wells and Miami. Should he choose to compete this year, he will have the opportunity to secure a significant number of points.
