Here’s why Chelsea can’t fire Pochettino

1 min read

This summer when he arrived at the famous London club, fans and the football public were convinced that Pochettino would be able to start a new era at Chelsea with a talented young team, however, his team is playing desperately and is currently in a dismal 11th place in the table. Many would like to see him go, but sacking Pochettino could prove costly for the famous club. Pochettino has a year and a half left on his contract with the Blues and his sacking would cost the club £10 million.

If they were to dismiss him before June, that expense would count for the current season, leading Chelsea to violate financial fair play rules. Remember, Everton lost 10 points due to a breach of financial fair play, if Chelsea were to suffer the same fate, they would have only two points more than the Toffees and would be fighting to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
