Fellaini Ends Playing Career
1 min readThe 36-year-old Belgian, who recently finished a four-year stint with the Chinese club Shandong Luneng, announced today on his Instagram account that he is ending his 18-year playing career. “I am writing this post to announce that after 18 years of my career, I am retiring from professional football.
What an incredible journey it has been,” wrote Fellaini. Fellaini began his professional career at Standard de Liège, moving to Everton in 2008 and then to Manchester United in the summer of 2013.
He won the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League with Manchester United in 2017. With the Belgium national team, where he finished third in the 2018 World Cup, he earned 87 caps and scored 18 goals.
